BAE Systems Opens New Facility in Bellevue.

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- BAE Systems today celebrated the grand opening of its new facility in Bellevue. The 24,000-square-foot facility, home to about 50 of the company's 160 employees in the Omaha area, will accommodate the recent growth of BAE Systems in the region.

Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman; U.S. Rep. Lee Terry; Chairman of the United Service Organizations (USO) World Board of Governors, John Gottschalk; Omaha Mayor Mike Fahey, and Bellevue Mayor Jerry Ryan were among the dignitaries who joined BAE Systems executives and employees at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

"Because of USSTRATCOM (United States Strategic Command) and Offutt Air Force Base, we in Nebraska have a genuine opportunity to entice great companies like BAE Systems to expand their technologically inclined, defense-related businesses in Nebraska," said Heineman. "The work that these companies perform represents a significant contribution to our men and women in the armed forces and to our nation as a whole."

The BAE Systems facility in Bellevue provides information technology support for USSTRATCOM, one of the United States' nine unified commands. The majority of BAE Systems' employees in the Omaha area work at USSTRATCOM facilities.

BAE Systems has performed work for USSTRATCOM and its predecessor Strategic Air Command since 1980.
