BAE Systems' development Hawk (HMDA) arrived in South Africa at the end of March for some eight months of development work with the new Adour 951 engine. It will be based at the SA Air Force's Test Flight and Development Centre (TFDC) near Cape Town. The first SAAF Hawk, SA001, is due to arrive in September and will also be based at the TFDC, where it will be used for avionics development and integration. Delivery of all 24 aircraft is scheduled to be completed during 2005.
