BAE SYSTEMS Receives Certification For WIN-T Operating Environment.

WAYNE, N.J. -- The Joint Tactical Radio System Technology Laboratory (JTeL) has certified the initial operating environment for BAE Systems' multi-band JC4ISR (Interrupt Service Routine) Software routine that is executed in response to an interrupt.  radio as compliant to the Department of Defense's Software Communications Architecture The Software Communications Architecture (SCA) is an open architecture framework that tells designers how elements of hardware and software are to operate in harmony within a software defined radio. SCA is a key element in the U.S. military's Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS).  2.2 specifications.

The certification, an important milestone in development of the radio, means that military forces will be able to communicate better and more widely in a combat arena. JC4ISR stands for Joint Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance An activity that synchronizes and integrates the planning and operation of sensors, assets, and processing, exploitation, and dissemination systems in direct support of current and future operations. This is an integrated intelligence and operations function. Also called ISR. . The JC4ISR radio will enable two new ad-hoc and self-forming waveforms for high-band networking and SATCOM network-centric operations, as well as the Global Broadcast System receive waveform.

"BAE Systems is a critical member of the WIN-T WIN-T Warfighter Information Network-Tactical

industry team," said Col. Angel Colon, the U.S. Army's manager for the Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T) program. "The company leads the development of the JC4ISR radio, which will increase our ability to move from a few commanders communicating on the move to formations communicating on the move."

The JC4ISR radio is an integral element of WIN-T, the Army's future-generation network. The mission-critical system will be optimized for offensive and joint operations, allowing theater commanders to simultaneously perform multiple missions. General Dynamics leads the WIN-T industry team.

"BAE Systems' core framework certification represents a milestone in interoperability among all future generations of SCA-compliant software-defined radios," said Jeffrey Markel, BAE Systems president for Network Enabled Solutions in Wayne, N.J. "With this radio, our military users will get the throughput, networking capability, and operational flexibility they need to meet urgent operational requirements today."
