BAE Systems was formed (1999) from the merger of British Aerospace (BAe) with Marconi Electronic Systems. has been awarded a U.S. Navy contract to provide engineering and technical services for identification systems for the Naval Air Systems Command The Naval Air Systems Command, or NAVAIR, is the part of the United States Navy which provides materiel support for naval aircraft and airborne weapon systems, such as guided missiles. NAVAIR was established in 1966 as the successor to the Navy's Bureau of Naval Weapons (BuWeps). (NAVAIR NAVAIR Naval Air Systems Command ), St. Inigoes, Md. The contract has a potential ceiling value of $117 million if all options are exercised. Under the contract, BAE SYSTEMS will provide systems design, development, integration, test and evaluation, installation, certification, and maintenance, support. Support will also include technical services, materials, and data to support the NAVAIR mission.
