BADMINTON: Warwickshire land a double success.

WARWICKSHIRE'S second and fourth teams continued their excellent start to the season with another inter-county championship double.

The 2nds coasted to a 12-3 win over Northamptonshire's senior side while the 4ths defeated Staffordshire Staffordshire (stăf`ərdshĭr), county (1991 pop. 1,020,300), 1,157 sq mi (2,997 sq km), W central England. The county seat is Stafford. The terrain is gently undulating except for a district of rugged moorlands in the north.  thirds 10-5.

Chris Tonks Tonks may refer to:

 and Coventry's Catherine Grant played the anchor roles for the seconds, winning both their doubles rubbers with respective partners Tim Lawrence and Sara Mason before teaming up to take their mixed doubles.

Mark Sellwood and Lewis Halsey scored singles wins along with Mary Druillenec, while Sara Mason had an excellent match and despite her defeat in the singles won all three doubles.

Coventry's Owen Webb had an outstanding match for the fourths, going undefeated in his four rubbers as he beat the Staffs No.1 in two straight games in the singles and added two wins in the mens doubles before concluding with a mixed win with Debra Padgington.

Padgington, who teamed up with her twin sister Lindsay Dibble to win her two ladies doubles, also won her mixed with Mike Litterick as both chipped in with three wins each along with John Gulliver.

The 2nds had earlier beaten Bedfordshire 11-4 with Grant winning all four games.She overcame Kerrie Harper 9-11,11-7,11-8 in a tight singles clash, renewed her county restricted championship title-winning partnership with Mason to secure both ladies doubles and added a mixed rubber with Tonks.

The 4ths beat Oxfordshire 10-5 with Coventry's Gulliver, Dibble and Padgington recording three wins apiece a·piece
