TEKLYNX(R) International today announced the availability of a specialized tracking application for laboratories and water testing facilities that helps ensure the cleanliness of testing vessels. Called "Wash Bottle Tracking," it is an add-on module for the BACKTRACK(R) asset and inventory tracking software package. The specialized module was developed by BACKTRACK systems integrator, Filing Source Inc. of Jacksonville.

The original application was developed for collecting water samples to meet Florida State regulations as part of the U.S. Clean Water Act. The BACKTRACK software wash bottle module enables field testers and laboratories to track each water collection bottle as it is washed and prepared for reuse in order to meet the record-keeping requirements of both the state and the federal agencies.

The module can be customized to control the containers for a variety of specimen collection and laboratory applications, including soil, agricultural, insect and hazardous materials, as well as containers for the analysis of other environmental specimens. Each bottle or container receives a bar code label that records a date field and notes the washing procedure used, as well as other pertinent information, such as the bottle number, bottle information and customer location. BACKTRACK software also produces a range of reports to comply with internal and regulatory requirements.

As a pre-packaged template, the BACKTRACK wash bottle module relieves laboratory managers from having to develop their own tracking system and makes it easier for the staff.
