Girl Scout Gold Award

Senior Girl Scout Amy Woods, a member of Troop 502, has recently completed the requirements to earn the Gold Award, the highest award for Girl Scouts Girl Scouts, recreational and service organization founded (1912) in Savannah, Ga., by Mrs. Juliette Gordon Low (1860–1927). It was originally modeled after the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides, organizations created in Great Britain by Sir Robert Baden-Powell during .

She is the daughter of Jeanne and Steve Woods Stephen John Woods (born December 15, 1976) is an English professional footballer, currently playing as a defender for Torquay United.

Woods was born in Davenham, Cheshire and began his career as a trainee with Stoke City, turning professional in August 1994.

The Gold Award symbolizes accomplishment in leadership, community service, career planning and personal development.

For her Gold Award project, she enlisted the aid of church members, knitting groups, other Girl Scouts and community members in helping her to supply the newborn unit at the Bay Area Hospital with 83 knitted baby items. In achieving her goal, 17 people (girls and adults) were taught a creative skill to last a lifetime and given an opportunity to benefit their community.
