BACKMAN TOSSES BATS, CHAIRS AFTER EJECTION I. EMPIRE 8, JETHAWKS 3.

The fiery JetHawks manager's most recent tirade came in the sixth inning of Tuesday night's 8-3 loss to Inland Empire In·land Empire

Backman, who's already received five ejections, has tossed a bat rack and emptied a trash can In the Macintosh, a simulated garbage can used for deleting files and folders. The trash can keeps the files intact in case the user wants to restore them, but can be "emptied" from time to time to save disk space.  after previous differences of opinions with California League umpiring crews.

Tuesday's ejection was the third at the hands of Shane Alexander, who tossed Backman from a July 15 game against Rancho Cucamonga in which the JetHawks manager suffered a calf injury as he jumped out of the dugout.

Backman's argument in Tuesday's game came after Alexander called outfielder Reggie Abercrombie out on a pickoff pick·off

Jon Zeringue was ejected for disputing a checked-swing third strike to start the sixth.

Backman expects to be fined and possibly suspended for Tuesday's incident during which it appeared he bumped Alexander.

``I might have touched him,'' Backman said.

--Note: Outfielder Jarred Ball played for the first time since suffering an ankle injury Aug. 4. He entered the game in the bottom of the sixth as a replacement for Zeringue.
