BACK OF THE NET! School sport star Jordan focused on football.

YOUNGSTERS in Huddersfield have got bags of talent.

And we're celebrating their gifts - in all their many forms.

The Examiner is partnering national Shine Week to showcase talented youngsters who really shine.

Today we report on star footballer Jordan McLeod.

Jordan, 15, of Brackenhall, plays for Barnsley Football Club and trains three times a week with the Oakwell club's under 16s.

Jordan, who is in Year 10 at Salendine Nook Salendine Nook is a district of Huddersfield 3 km (2 miles) to the north-west of Huddersfield in the English county of West Yorkshire.

Bordered to the north-east by Laund Hill, Weather Hill and Low Hill and to the south-west by the natural scar of Longwood Edge, above the
 High School, will also use his talents to help coach Year 7 pupils at his New Hey Road school next year.

, said: "He has a lot of natural talent but even when you've got lots of talent you still have to put the work in.

"He's definitely a practical person but also works hard academically.

"He's very focused on his football and hopes to get a scholarship with Barnsley after the end of this next year.

"He's been playing since he was about nine-years-old and wants to carry on with his football and succeed."

Salendine Nook lets Jordan off from his studies one day a week so he can hone his skills as a forward at Barnsley FC.

The talented teen trains three times a week with the under 16 team and travels the country to play on match days.

But being a star in football isn't enough for Arsenal fan Jordan.

He's also a strong athlete and is the Kirklees school 100 metre and 200 metre champion.

Salendine Nook High school has just formed a new sports academy and Jordan is a sports leader.

He was chosen by PE staff Paul Quinn Paul Quinn (born 21 July 1985, Wishaw) is a Scottish footballer currently playing for Scottish Premier League side Motherwell.

Quinn is a centre-back by trade and has came throught the youth ranks at Fir Park.

Jordan took along his dad Roy to meet with Dr Ingrid Roscoe Ingrid Roscoe, PhD (University of Leeds) is a writer on English art.

She was born at Rugby School on 27 May 1944. Her father, Dr Arthur Allen, a squadron-leader in the RAF, was in Devon, closely involved in plans for the forthcoming D-Day landings.
 who wanted to celebrate the country's top young achievers.

They also met Christa Ackroyd from BBC's Look North.

Another Huddersfield schoolboy, Reuben Noble-Lazarus, claimed the record as the Football League's youngest ever player when he came off the bench at Ipswich Town to play for Barnsley last year.

The Newsome High School pupil was just 15 years and 45 days old at the time and became an instant star.

Barnsley manager Simon Davey had spotted Reuben's talent when he managed the under-18s and played him in the team as a 12-year-old.. Today marks the end of Shine Week.

Lots of schools around the borough have been taking part in a range of events to celebrate their pupils.
