MERSEYSIDE'S giant Halewood car plant is today in crisis - along with Britain's best-loved auto brand.

But the ECHO will not stand by and watch car manufacturing die.

If Jaguar Land Rover See LANRover.  goes then so do the jobs of 2,000 Merseysiders at Halewood and up to 1,000 more local people employed in the supply chain.

Today the ECHO demands that Gordon Brown - so quick to bail out failing banks - supports a proud manufacturing business. Why? Because:
