BACA UNVEILS DETAILED WEB SITE ON HOMICIDES.

Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County Sheriff Lee Baca Leroy David Baca (b. May 27 1942, East Los Angeles, California) is the Sheriff of Los Angeles County, California.

After graduating from Benjamin Franklin High School (Los Angeles) in 1960, Baca worked his way through East Los Angeles College before starting with the L.A.
 on Tuesday unveiled the first comprehensive Web site in the nation that records the nature and frequency of homicides in Los Angeles County.

The site's purpose is twofold, Baca said: To generate more tips to help solve homicide cases and to give a broader base of information about all of the county's homicides to the public.

Baca and his staff unveiled the site Tuesday during a news conference at the sheriff's headquarters.

The site - www.lacountymurders.com - includes details on the 205 homicides the sheriff's department has handled this year. The site also provides circumstances on homicides in unincorporated areas In law, an unincorporated area is a region of land that is not a part of any municipality. To "incorporate" in this context means to form a municipal corporation, i.e., a city or town with its own government. , cities with contracted sheriff's services and police departments that have enlisted the sheriff's bureau's help.

The Web site also includes photos of homicide suspects, and photographs of personal items and tattoos of victims.

A section on statistics compares homicide locations and counts for 2004 and 2005.

One person is killed every day on average in the county, and only about 20 percent of homicides are publicized pub·li·cize
