The long-awaited expansion for the remodeled station takes the facility from 5,100 square feet to 13,500 square feet and will provide room for detectives, locker rooms, secretarial and support staff, and interview rooms. The main entrance and lobby have been moved to the north side of the building. A new dispatch system is yet to be installed at the facility. The Palmdale station split from the Lancaster station in January 1998 will now house a total of 152 personnel. In the next two years, officials said they have plans to hire 60 sworn and civilian personnel.
