BABY JAG AXED; 300 Halewood jobs to go at end of the year.

HALEWOOD will cease production of the X-Type Jag by the end of this year- with the loss of 300 jobs.

The news was delivered to workers at luxury car maker Jaguar Land Rover's Merseyside plant this mor ning.

There are also plans for a minimum three-week winter shutdown.

But local MP Maria Eagle said she had every confidence in the future of the site, which is pinning its hopes on the success of the Freelander model and new "green" concept car the LRX LRX Large Reactor Critical Facility (Waltz Mill, PA)
