The contract, which will be shared in a three-way project partnership with H.A. Simons of British Columbia, the consulting engineers, and Cegelec/BG CHECO CHECO Contemporary Historical Examination of Current Operations of Quebec, the construction contractor, is valued at approximately U.S. $125 million. The turnkey project calls for the supply, erection, and commissioning of equipment including a new recovery boiler, installation of the turbine island, and upgrades to the fiberline and causticizing area. The project will also allow Domtar to meet increasingly stringent environmental legislation. Work is scheduled to be complete in November, 1996.
