BAAN INTERNATIONAL APPOINTS RON WEILERT CEO AND PRESIDENT OF THE AMERICAS OPERATIONS

CHICAGO, June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- BAAN International B.V., a worldwide provider of enterprise-wide software solutions, today named Ron Weilert CEO and president of its Americas operations. Weilert comes to BAAN from Oracle Corp., the world's largest database vendor.
Weilert, 44, a 15-year computer industry veteran, graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1971. After a seven-year tour in the U.S. Air Force, Weilert worked for Consumer Systems Corp., a data processing consulting firm in Chicago.
Weilert spent over nine years with Oracle in a variety of sales and management positions. Most recently, Weilert was vice president, manufacturing systems, for Oracle Corp. He was responsible for the worldwide sales and marketing of Oracle's software solutions.
Weilert will report to BAAN founder Jan Baan, who said, "We are very excited about having Ron join our management team. His strong experience in marketing manufacturing software will complement our senior management and allow us to rapidly expand our Americas Operations. His track record attests to his abilities and accomplishments."
BAAN International B.V., based in the Netherlands, is an open-system software company. Its primary product is TRITON, a UNIX-based software solution that is a highly integrated modular system.
TRITON is comprised of Manufacturing, Distribution and Financial software, and BAAN's 4GL tools and database. TRITON is designed for make-to-stock, make or assemble-to-order, or engineer-to-order companies. TRITON is also designed for companies utilizing combinations of these hybrid manufacturing environments.
BAAN provides customers with standardized implementation and training, which is globally consistent, yet country specific and language independent. TRITON can operate using open-systems databases from Oracle, Sybase, Informix and Ingres as well as its own 4GL and open system database. "Our vision at BAAN is to become the solution provider for larger multi-national corporations. By releasing the highest quality products possible and providing the highest quality implementation process with the lowest risk, we help our customers become more successful in the shortest possible time," Weilert says.
The new CEO and president of BAAN's Americas operations speaks with enthusiasm about BAAN's innovative, service-oriented approach to software marketing.
"BAAN provides a unique, three-phased approach to software marketing, including evaluation, installation, and optimization. Once our customers evaluate our software, we can configure required services based on the customer's own specific wants and needs. After installation, BAAN also provides system optimization services. This ensures the customer's system runs at its highest possible performance level. No other software vendor offers such a comprehensive program," Weilert says.
"BAAN's size and maturity relative to the other Technology Headstart vendors gives BAAN a unique opportunity for growth in 1993 and 1994. Ron Weilert's experience from Oracle should add the North American leadership to take advantage of that opportunity," says Ted Rybeck, director of research, Advanced Manufacturing Research (AMR).
BAAN International B.V. was founded in 1978 by Jan Baan, with international headquarters in Ede, the Netherlands. The company revenues last year were in excess of $50 million. Offices are located in over 30 countries with more than 2,000 customers of TRITON software worldwide.
