 plc, the international airport group, today announced its UK airports handled a total of 12.9 million passengers in August, 2% more than in August 2000.

The main factor in the increase was outbound out·bound  
adj.
Outward bound; headed away: outbound trains.

 British tourism and UK domestic travel reinforced by the continued growth of low fare services.

UK domestic traffic rose 5.5% compared with August 2000, with a total of nearly 2.1 million passengers. European European

 scheduled services carried 3.8% more passengers compared to the same month last year and European charter services rose 3.9%.
