). Ad spending for 12 categories in the month was down 0.5% compared to the same period last year, while ad pages fell 2.2% in the month. Year-to-date, ad spending is flat and pages are down 3.8%. ABM president Gordon Hughes said "we are expecting some growth in fourth-quarter spending." Six of the 12 categories showed an increase in ad spending, including the Automotive sector (+26.2%) and Services/Direct Response (+11.%). Five of the 12 showed an increase in ad pages, including Horticulture/Farming (+7.8%) and Travel (+7%).
