B.Y.G. Reports High Grade Discovery; Mt. Nansen Mill Primed for Start-Up.

WHITEHORSE, Yukon--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 24, 1996--B.Y.G. NATURAL RES.(Alberta Stock Exchange: BYG ) B.Y.G. Natural Resources Inc. today announced that while clearing a site for road gravel 300 meters northwest of the Brown-McDade open pit, a high grade gold vein was uncovered which has been stripped for 200 feet. Two trenches across the extreme ends of the vein ran 0.513 and 0.277 ounces per ton (opt) gold equivalent, each over an average width of ten feet. Six grab samples along the stripped length of the vein ran in gold equivalents of 1.015 opt, 0.845 opt, 0.685 opt, 0.758 opt, 0.863 opt and 0.756 opt and, in addition, averaged 2.28 percent lead.

The significance of this gold occurrence is that it is on a geochemical anomaly that runs parallel, for an estimated 3 kilometers, to the geochemical anomaly which hosts the Brown-McDade open pit mine. The Company will commence a diamond drill program in October to test the vein at depth and ascertain the optimum placement of an underground decline that would access both the Brown-McDade and this parallel gold system.

J. Malcolm Slack, President, said the discovery increases the potential to expand reserves at the property. Within the area of the main mines there are seven parallel geochemical anomalies on the Mt. Nansen Trend. The Trend now has a width of four to five kilometers and all seven anomalies are many kilometers in length. The four existing deposits lie on two of these structures. The others remain to be explored. The Company's properties extend and cover the full width of the Trend continuously for 30 kilometers along strike.

In addition, Mr. Slack reported on the status of the Mt. Nansen mill. Electrical control panels which were damaged in transit and required rebuilding have delayed mill start-up for the past two week period. The operators have received the rebuilt control panels and they are currently being installed. Despite the modest delay, the Company is pleased to report that the Mt. Nansen mill project is under budget. The mill is expected to be energized and operating next week. Following run-in and tune-up, the operation is expected to reach its production rate of 700 tonnes per day during the last quarter of this calendar year. Equivalent gold production is forecast to average 70,000 ounces per year from existing reserves, and 50,000 ounces in year one.

B.Y.G. Natural Resources has a 100 percent interest in the Mt. Nansen mine and milling complex in the Yukon, as well as direct and indirect interest in exploration projects associated with the Mt. Nansen Trend. B.Y.G. has an exploration-based subsidiary company called Trumpeter Yukon Gold Inc., which owns the Arctic Mine, exploration properties and has warrants for shares that, if exercised, would cause Trumpeter to become the major shareholder of Omni Resources Inc. (VSE:ORI). Upon exercise, Trumpeter also has the right to purchase, for a nominal amount, a 50 percent interest in Omni's Mt. Skukum properties.
