B.Y.G. Begins Production at Mt. Nansen.

WHITEHORSE, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 18, 1996--(TSE, Alberta Stock Exchange BYG.) B.Y.G. Natural Resources Inc. today announced that gold production commenced this week at the Mt. Nansen Mine located west of Carmacks in the Yukon Territory, Canada. The initial capacity of the mill is 700 tonnes per day and the Company expects to produce some 50,000 ounces of gold in the first year of operation. Expansion of mining and milling operations is anticipated in the following year.

The mill will initially treat surface oxide ores from the Brown-McDade deposit and later will process underground sulphide ores accessible by some 4 km of underground workings.

J. Malcolm Slack, President, said that this is an extremely satisfying period for the Company. He noted that the Company's development team had maintained a clear focus on the strategic plan and, as a result, has brought the project into production under budget.

B.Y.G. Natural Resources Inc. has a 100 percent interest in the Mt. Nansen mine and milling complex in the Yukon, as well as direct and indirect interest in exploration projects associated with the Mt. Nansen Trend. The principal mandate of B.Y.G.'s exploration-based private subsidiary, Trumpeter Yukon Gold Inc., is financing the development of the exploration properties of Omni Resources Inc. (VSE - ORI).
