B.C. opens northern medical training.PRINCE GEORGE Prince George, city (1991 pop. 69,653), central British Columbia, Canada, at the confluence of the Fraser and Nechako rivers. It is a railroad division point and a distribution center for a lumber region. -- British Columbia's new Northern Health Sciences Centre will train medical students to serve northern and rural communities. The new northern medical program is part of the the provincial government's Rural and Northern Health initiative. The Centre will house the program, which will train 96 medical students per year by 2007/08, and is part of the University of British Columbia's expanded medical education program. The northern medical program, along with the Island medical program at the University of Victoria, is part of a government plan to expand medical training and nearly double the number of doctors trained in B.C.
