B.C.: all hospitals to be pro-abortion.Victoria, BC - A second example of B. C. "tolerance of diversity" occurred in March. A Vancouver Sun news story (March 13) headed, "Anti-abortion activists barred from health boards," revealed that B.C. Health Minister Joy MacPhail Joy MacPhail is a former Canadian politician in British Columbia. A longtime member of the New Democratic Party of British Columbia, she served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from 1991 to 2005 and as a Minister of the Crown from 1993-1999, and 2000-2001. (NDP NDP New Democratic Party (Canada) NDP National Development Plan (Republic of Ireland) NDP National Development Plan NDP National Democratic Party (Barbados) ) has appointed close to 700 members of the province's new community and regional health boards. All the appointees have one thing in common: none of them will be pro-life. Here is what the Minister said: "In the communities where certain special-interest groups have made it their goal to impose an anti-choice point of view, those communities' activists were not put forward to be appointed by the board. Basically, everybody on the board was required to support our government's view, that all legitimate health-care services, including therapeutic abortion Abortion, Therapeutic Definition Therapeutic abortion is the intentional termination of a pregnancy before the fetus can live independently. Abortion has been a legal procedure in the United States since 1973. , be provided." John Hof of the B.C. Campaign Life Coalition points out that this measure was not just about abortion: "What is at stake here is the government's absolute disdain for community input." He had attended a meeting of about 1,000 members of the Langley Lang·ley , Mount A peak, 4,227.9 m (14,026 ft) high, in the Sierra Nevada of southern California. lang·ley n. pl. Langley does not do abortions. Please note the three falsehoods in the Minister's statement: 1. The accusation A formal criminal charge against a person alleged to have committed an offense punishable by law, which is presented before a court or a magistrate having jurisdiction to inquire into the alleged crime. that pro-life advocates "impose" when they are democratically elected by the community. (It is MacPhail who is imposing her view). 2. Her phrase "legitimate health-care services." Abortion is not a matter of health care. It is not done for health reasons. 3. The use of "therapeutic." Abortion can never be therapeutic for either the mother or for the baby; the one is wounded; the other killed. P.S. This latest violation of people's rights was not reported outside BC. One wonders why? |
