B. E. ''Gene'' Wraith to Retire from Lincoln Benefit Life.


LINCOLN, Neb. -- B.E. "Gene" Wraith, president of Lincoln Benefit Life Company, has announced his plans to retire effective April 30, 2006.

Wraith joined Lincoln Benefit Life in 1979 as regional vice president after working with both Western Southern Life and its parent company US Life Corp., and owning his own insurance agency. In 1983 he became vice president of marketing. Wraith also served as senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Lincoln Benefit Life and Surety An individual who undertakes an obligation to pay a sum of money or to perform some duty or promise for another in the event that person fails to act.

Wraith has made many corporate contributions during his 26-year leadership tenure, including the successful introduction of Lincoln Benefit Life's universal life portfolio of products and leading the company's venture into the brokerage marketplace. Licensed representatives for Lincoln Benefit Life numbered a few thousand in 1983, reaching over 100,000 in 1999. In 1986, Lincoln Benefit Life's year-end submitted premium was $100 million; in 2004, the company's submitted premium reached a record-setting $3.6 billion.
