B-O-C SELECTS ROBOMATIX TO BUILD WORLD'S LARGEST
 AUTOMOTIVE ON-LINE LASER CUTTING SYSTEM
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Sept. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Robomatix International, a leading producer of laser processing motion systems, has been selected by General Motors' B-O-C Group under a $3 million contract to design and build what will be the world's largest automotive on-line laser cutting system.
Forty-five feet long and 40 feet wide, the system includes four standard Robomatix MODULASER Robots and four Coherent Arrow CO2 1,100- watt lasers.
The system, according to Robomatix Sales and Marketing Director Tom Getts, "has full back-up capability allowing for maximization of up- time, and includes a vision system which guarantees the correct location of the automotive body."
When installed in September 1993, this unique system will be used in the production of B-O-C "J" car body side moldings.
"Although providing B-O-C with a number of benefits, such as quality enhancements and substantial cost savings, the primary advantage of this system will be the easy resolution of scheduling problems," added Getts.
Robomatix International U.S.A., a privately held company, produces laser processing motion systems to the Big Three automotive manufacturers, automotive suppliers and the aerospace industry. On the leading edge of laser technology, Robomatix offers a variety of applications providing the flexibility and operating efficiency to meet the most demanding challenges of the '90s and beyond.
