B-K Medical A/S, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Analogic Corporation (NASDAQ: ALOG), moved yesterday to new headquarters in Herlev, Denmark, a suburb of Copenhagen. From its new base, the company will continue its global expansion in the field of highly specialized diagnostic ultrasound systems.

At 10,000 square meters (about 100,000 square feet), the company's new headquarters is twice as large as its former facilities in nearby Gentofte. The new building has space for production, R&D, sales and marketing, and administration.

"Building the new headquarters was a necessary step for us, to keep pace with the constant growth in our business," says CEO Rene Barington. "Throughout the last five years, we've experienced double-digit growth rates, especially in our products for surgical and urological ultrasound. We had simply outgrown the old facilities. The new production facilities will ensure that we can continue to meet the growing demand for our products.

"We've also continued to launch new products, including the Surgical Hawk, which is the first ultrasound scanner in the world that can be hooked up directly to the screens in the operating room that are already being used by the surgeon to monitor the operation. B-K Medical is the first ultrasound company to solve the surgeon's problem of having to keep an eye on several different screens at once."

Another important factor contributing to the company's expansion is its increasing ability to establish strategic partnerships around the world with other leading companies in the ultrasound field. For example, in the fall of 2001 the production of acoustic arrays was acquired from the U.S. company Acoustic Imaging, a move that in itself expanded B-K Medical's space requirements. The acoustic array is the central component of an ultrasound transducer, the part that sends and receives the ultrasound signals. At the end of 2001, B-K Medical also acquired the rights to develop and produce integrated three-dimensional imaging technology from the Canadian company Life Imaging Systems, Inc.
