B&B BASICS : B&B INNS OFFER SKIING, COOKING GETAWAYS.

Byline: Bobbi Zane Special to the Daily News

Truffles is one of several Big Bear bed-and-breakfast inns that offer special winter packages to lure skiers.

One of the newest b&bs in the mountain resort, Truffles is in the quiet Moonridge residential area not far from Bear Mountain Ski Resort. Non-skiing guests can watch skiers navigating trails right through the windows from the inn's spacious family room. And for skiers, innkeeper An individual who, as a regular business, provides accommodations for guests in exchange for reasonable compensation.

An inn is defined as a place where lodgings are made available to the public for a charge, such as a hotel, motel, hostel, or guest house.
Marilyn Kane has two-for-the-price-of-one lift tickets for Bear Mountain. Two people can ski all day at the resort for just $40, which is added to the price of the room, which runs from $115 to $140 per night.

``There are no restrictions on these tickets,'' Kane said. ``They can be used on weekends and holidays.''

Kane opened Truffles, a sprawling open-floor-plan contemporary home, about two years ago. There are six rooms with private baths, some with private entrances. Decor reflects Kane's interest in things English: one room has a hunt theme and others pay homage homage: see feudalism.  to the royal family.
