Azimuth Systems Closes $7.5 Million in New Funding; Announces CEO Transition.

Wi-Fi Test Equipment Leader Will Expand Into WiMAX and Cellular Markets

ACTON, Mass. -- Azimuth Systems, Inc., the leading provider of Wi-Fi([R]) engineering test equipment, today announced that it has received $7.5 million in new venture capital funding from its current investors and that Jim Iuliano will join the company as chief executive officer. The new funding and management change position the company for expansion into the WiMAX and cellular markets.

More than 100 wireless semiconductor, system vendors and service providers oC including Atheros, Broadcom, Cisco, Marvell, Motorola and T-Mobile oC rely on Azimuth's proprietary test solutions to speed time-to-market and improve product quality. According to market research firm ABI Research, Azimuth customers account for more than 95% of the Wi-Fi products that ship worldwide.

Iuliano has been CEO for both public and private technology companies for more than a decade. Previously, he was chief executive officer of E Ink Corporation, taking the company from start-up into commercialization, building a global presence, and securing strategic alliances with Sony, Philips Electronics and Lucent, among others. Prior to E Ink, Iuliano was president and chief executive officer of Molecular Devices (NASDAQ:MDCC), where he led the company through an impressive period of sustained growth and profitability, delivering 20 consecutive quarters of record revenues and profitability. He was instrumental in orchestrating the measurement system company's highly successful Initial Public Offering. Most recently, Iuliano was an entrepreneur in residence at North Bridge Venture Partners.
