AzaleaGrabber Harvests Bar Codes.

Business/High Tech Editors

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 7, 2001

AzaleaGrabber(TM), new from Azalea azalea (əzāl`yə) [Gr.,=dry], any species of the genus Rhododendron, North American and Asian shrubs of the family Ericaceae (heath family) that are distinguished by the usually deciduous leaves.  Software, Inc., migrates data from bar code scanners directly into popular Microsoft Windows applications, including databases, spreadsheets, and one's own custom applications.

Using AzaleaGrabber you can move data directly into Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, or any ODBC-compliant program. Simply scan your bar codes and use AzaleaGrabber to do simple edits on the list of stored symbols before transfering them to your target applications.

The challenge is not in scanning bar codes either one at a time or literally dozens of symbols. The problem is how to integrate that scanned data into your applications quickly and easily. Most scanners come with very rudimentary software, if any at all. At its core, AzaleaGrabber is a scriptable engine that can be seamlessly wired into your own applications. Now you can update your database files as soon as you connect your scanner to your PC.

The first release of AzaleaGrabber supports the Symbol SPT (Sectors Per Track) The number of sectors in one track.  1500 and SPT 1700 scanner lines as well as the CSM CSM - ["CSM - A Distributed Programming Language", S. Zhongxiu et al, IEEE Trans Soft Eng SE-13(4):497-500 (Apr 1987)]. 150, a module for Handspring Visors. All of these devices run the Palm OS. Bar codes scanned and stored on these devices are transferred to your PC as soon as you HotSync. AzaleaGrabber also supports the CS1504, a consumer device from Symbol designed as a convenient key fob. Future versions will support other scanners from a variety of manufacturers.

AzaleaGrabber is available now directly from Azalea Software and is priced at US$249 a copy. Site licenses and developer pricing is available upon request. For more information, please visit: www.azalea.com/AzaleaGrabber.
