This system is designed to be used with the AxyaWeld(TM) instrument. The Bone Anchor System and Kit utilizes suture suture /su·ture/ (soo´cher) 1. sutura. 2. a stitch or series of stitches made to secure apposition of the edges of a surgical or traumatic wound. 3. to apply such stitches. 4. material and bone anchors to secure soft tissue structures in surgical procedures Surgical procedures have long and possibly daunting names. The meaning of many surgical procedure names can often be understood if the name is broken into parts. For example in splenectomy, "ectomy" is a suffix meaning the removal of a part of the body. "Splene-" means spleen. where bone anchors are indicated. Axya has developed a patented, proprietary method of utilizing ultrasonic energy to weld polymeric materials used in surgical procedures. Its initial products are designed to ultrasonically weld suture, thereby eliminating knot tying by the surgeon.
