Axesstel Approved to Provide Fixed and Mobile Voice and Broadband Data Devices to ACF's 12 Operator Members Across Africa

SAN DIEGO -- Axesstel, Inc. (AMEX:AFT), a leader in the design and development of fixed wireless voice and broadband data products, today announced the African CDMA Forum (ACF) has selected Axesstel as an approved vendor to provide its complete line of CDMA2000 1X fixed wireless desktop phones, public call office phones and voice/data terminals, and CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev 0 and Rev A fixed and mobile broadband modems and 3G gateways to ACF's 12 operator members located throughout the continent of Africa. ACF operator members serve approximately 2.2 million subscribers across sub-Saharan Africa.

The ACF handset buyers' consortium chose Axesstel from a total of 12 device manufacturers that submitted proposals. Approved vendors were selected based on the ability of the company and product portfolio to meet the diverse market demands of ACF member operators. Specific criteria included suitability of products, reliability, pricing and after sales service.

According to the International Telecommunication Union's (ITU) World Telecommunications Indicators (May 2006), the tele-density rate for Africa is approximately 12 percent compared to 37 percent in Asia, 80 percent in the Americas and over 100 percent in Europe. In many developing countries worldwide, access to data services and the Internet are either very limited or not available at all. For example, according to the previously referenced ITU report, less than three out of every 100 inhabitants in Africa have access to the Internet, compared to 63 out of every 100 inhabitants in the United States.
