Influential telecommunications executives from across the globe gathered recently in London for the World Communications Awards to celebrate the outstanding achievement amongst telecom service providers at global, regional and national levels.

The category of "Best Service in Emerging Markets" was granted to Tata for their Walky service, based on their ability to facilitate the mobilization of technical, human and financial resources needed to implement, and provide appropriate communications services to meet the needs of users in emerging markets while continuing to develop innovative services. Axesstel is a major supplier of fixed wireless phones and voice and data terminals to Tata which are used for their Walky service offerings.
