Axemen take victory from South Medford.


Byline: The Register-Guard

Essie Nagler scored 16 points and South Eugene took advantage of 36 turnovers by South Medford to come away with a 68-50 nonleague girls prep basketball win over the Panthers on Friday.

Camille Richey added 14 points and Jesslyn Rahm had 10 points for the Axemen. Brittany Farrer led South Medford with 17 points.

SPRINGFIELD - Shayla Corder scored 18 points and Katie Wilton added 10 points to lead the Indians. Roseburg led by 14 at halftime and widened the margin by outscoring the Millers 35-11 in the second half.

Carly Wiebe led Springfield, which was playing its fourth game in five days, with seven points and six rebounds.

NEWPORT - Kammy Martindale scored 24 points to lead the Vikings, who led 41-18 after three quarters.

Kayla Craycraft led the Cubs with nine points.

PLEASANT HILL - Katy St. Clair and Sam Post scored 10 points apiece to pace the Warriors, who scored 31 points in the second and third quarters.

Amanda Cramer led the Billies with 10 points, and Samantha Franklin recorded eight points and 10 rebounds.

Marist 57, North Marion 46

Rachel Copeland scored 19 points to lead the Spartans. Marist outscored the Huskies 23-11 in the second quarter to take a seven-point halftime lead.

Kelsey Kahle led North Marion with 12 points.

CRESWELL - Breanna Davis scored 11 points to lead the Bulldogs to their first win against a Class 3A opponent in two years.

Katie Bichsel added nine points for Creswell, which jumped out to a 24-10 lead by halftime. Tarra Prisbrey scored 10 for the Cheiftains.

Crow, which led 29-4 at halftime, also recorded 26 steals.

YONCALLA - Shauna Bryant scored 22 points and Shawna Strickland chipped in 11 to lead the Eagles. Yoncalla led 30-20 at halftime.

Shalene Wilson and Britta Beckstead scored eight apiece for the Crusaders.
