North Eugene might have the top swimmer, but South Eugene proved Tuesday night it has the better team.

and Zach Knight each won a pair of individual events for the Axemen, who defeated the Highlanders 104-61 in a Midwestern League boys swimming dual meet at River Road Pool.

"North Eugene always competes well in their own pool, so we just had to hang on and do what we could," South Eugene coach Dan Cole Dan Cole, sports talk personality on the FAN sports radio network, hosts the "Common Man Progrum" from the flagship station KFAN in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, from noon - 2pm (affectionately known as “nothing at noon”) Monday through Friday.  said.

Despite Cole's attempts at humility, this dual meet went as expected, with the depth of the Axemen eventually overwhelming the Highlanders' talented yet thin roster.

Lee won the the 50- and 100-yard freestyles in 23.62 seconds and 51.66, respectively, while Knight claimed first in the 100 butterfly (56.06) and 100 backstroke (57.29).

"We had some good swims from the boys today," Cole said.

Ben Malcolm had two of North Eugene's three individual wins and also swam the opening leg of its winning 400-meter freestyle relay.

Malcolm, who hasn't lost an event at a dual meet all season, won the 200 individual medley med·ley

Aaron Minster was the only other Highlander to win an event, as he claimed the 200 freestyle in 1:56.75.

Elliot Bishow added to South Eugene's final tally with a win in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.11.

Bishow also swam the second leg in both the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay - both events won easily by South Eugene.
