(ME,TSE:AXP) announces that it has acquired the Viokase(R) product line previously marketed by Wyeth-Ayerst in Canada. As Axcan indicated at the time of its initial public offering in 1995, a part of the proceeds of the issue will be used to finance this acquisition. This transaction solidifies Axcan's position in the gastroenterology field.
