AxFlow increases its position in the refrigeration industry.AxFlow Limited is stepping up its involvement within the UK refrigeration refrigeration, process for drawing heat from substances to lower their temperature, often for purposes of preservation. Refrigeration in its modern, portable form also depends on insulating materials that are thin yet effective. industry following its recent introduction of Hermetic's 40 bar design of seal-less centrifugal pumps for C[O.sup.2] applications. Hermetic hermetic /her·met·ic/ (her-met´ik) impervious to air. her·met·ic or her·met·i·cal adj. Completely sealed, especially against the escape or entry of air. pumps are of mono-bloc design (pump and motor share a common shaft) and as such are quieter, more compact and easier to install than conventional pumps. They do not require a base plate, couple or coupling guard, nor is there a need for alignment of motor and pump to ensure totally leak-free operation. The CAM and CAMR 40 bar models are built with two to five impeller stages to suit the application and offer a capacity of up to 50[m.sup.3]/h and a head of up to 130m. The CAMR series is a special version designed for compact plants with small collecting vessels. This enables space saving by mounting the pump directly under the vessel. Furthermore, it permits gas to escape through the suction port, allowing shorter re-starting times. The Hermetic CNF series differs in that it is a single stage pump with an additional impeller, enabling pumping of fluids with a steep vapour pressure diagram. The double containment design free of a shaft sealing device makes the canned motor pump 100% leak free. Even in the unlikely event of a stator stator: see generator; motor, electric. line rapturing there is no leakage to atmosphere. In addition, the absence of mechanical seals and the employment of maintenance free slide bearings, as opposed to roller beatings, ensure optimised MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) The average time a component works without failure. It is the number of failures divided by the hours under observation. MTBF - Mean Time Between Failures (Mean Time Between Failure). With the introduction of the 40 bar C[O.sup.2] models to its range of Hermetic canned motor pumps, AxFlow will be able to meet the growing number of requests from the refrigeration industry for seal-less pumps that can accommodate higher operating pressures.
