Business/Technology Editors

BEDFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 6, 2002

Aware, Inc., the worldwide DSL DSL

Broadband digital communications connection that operates over standard copper telephone wires. It requires a DSL modem, which splits transmissions into two frequency bands: the lower frequencies for voice (ordinary
technology company, today announced the availability of an advanced interoperability test solution - the Veritas992 AIT (Automated Interoperability Test) ADSL See DSL.

ADSL - Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line
 test system.

By combining Aware's Veritas992 DSL test and development system with comprehensive interoperability loop test software, the Veritas992 AIT dramatically reduces testing time by offering ADSL equipment vendors and independent test labs an interoperability testing solution to perform automated physical loop layer testing, as defined by industry organizations, such as the DSL Forum's WT-062 (v8) and the ITU (International Telecommunication Union, Geneva, Switzerland, www.itu.ch) A telecommunications standards body that is under the auspices of the United Nations. Comprising more than 185 member countries, the ITU sets standards for global telecom networks. .

"The DSL industry now requires hundreds of loop tests for interoperability, and manual testing (testing) manual testing - That part of software testing that requires human input, analysis, or evaluation.  is often inconsistent and time consuming. DSL equipment developers and independent test labs need an easy way to test ADSL equipment to verify that it adheres to the interoperability standards of the industry," said Michael Song, Aware's test system product manager. "The Veritas992 AIT automates the interoperability tests, providing repeatable tests and consistent results in hours instead of days."

The Veritas992 AIT comes equipped with ATU-C See ATU.  and ATU-R See ATU.  transceiver modules and Aware's loop test software that runs on Winhost, Veritas's management platform. Test result reports, logs, and charts are published in easy-to-read formats, empowering the customer with instant knowledge of the test results. With the Veritas992 AIT, manufacturers can perform physical layer loop tests such as:

-- Loop Tests with Ports Set for Adaptive Rate with various impairments

-- Loop Tests with Ports Set for Fixed Rate

-- Full Rate Standard Loop Tests for CSA (1) (Canadian Standards Association, Toronto, Ontario, www.csa.ca) A standards-defining organization founded in 1919. It is involved in many industries, including electronics, communications and information technology.  #4 and ANSI (American National Standards Institute, New York, www.ansi.org) A membership organization founded in 1918 that coordinates the development of U.S. voluntary national standards in both the private and public sectors. It is the U.S. member body to ISO and IEC.  #13

-- Bridged Tap Tests

With the purchase of the Veritas992 AIT, customers also receive one full day of technical training.

Aware's Veritas992 AIT is available now. When coupled with Spirent's DLS DLS

400 loop simulator (with noise sources) and the DLS 90 loop simulator, Aware's Veritas992 AIT performs the automated physical layer loop tests. Other configurations to meet varying testing requirements are also available.
