leader and innovator, today announced updates to its Veritas992 AIT Automated Interoperability Test System, designed to test to the DSL Forum The DSL Forum is a world wide consortium of about 200 companies which are part of the different divisions of the telecommunication and information technology sector. The DSL Forum was founded in 1994 and is used as a platform for companies that operate in the broadband market.  technical requirements document TR-048. This week at SuperComm 2002 in Atlanta, Georgia, Aware will be demonstrating the Veritas992 AIT and discussing its automated interoperability test system.

Veritas992 AIT Test System

The Veritas992 AIT Test System performs automated physical layer loop testing by integrating control of line simulators, noise impairment generators, and DSLAMs to automate physical layer loop testing for CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) Communications equipment that resides on the customer's premises.

equipment vendors, service providers, and test labs to dramatically reduce testing time to hours when performing pre-testing, certification testing, and interoperability testing.

"The biggest hurdle in interoperability testing is the time it takes to perform the hundreds of loop tests specified in TR-048," said Michael Song, Aware's test system product manager. "The Veritas992 AIT makes it possible to reduce testing time from days to overnight. The end results include consistent results from test labs, faster time-to-market and more accurate product qualification from CPE vendors, and increased customer satisfaction with reliable networks and multiple CPE offerings from service providers."

The tests are fully automated and repeatable, producing consistent results and validating modem performance. In addition, test result reports, logs, and charts are published in easy-to-read formats, empowering the customer with instant knowledge of the test results.

The Veritas992 AIT test system includes:
- Veritas992 ECR for baseline testing

- AIT Software Pack to automate the TR-048 North American, G.dmt, and loop
reach tests

- Test Manager with GUI (graphical user interface) software to control and
manage the test process

- Data Cruncher software to consolidate raw test data and presents results in a
detailed spreadsheet format

- Data Compare software to compare multiple sets of test results

 Interoperability Test Plan

On May 20, 2002, The DSL Forum announced the approval of its TR-048 "ADSL Interoperability Test Plan." TR-048, previously known as WT-062 v9, defines technical criteria for interoperability, specifies ADSL bit-rate and distance requirements well beyond the previous ADSL recommendations. The report is regarded as a milestone achievement toward the goal of widespread retail availability of interoperable CPE and DSL modems. Additionally, the International Telecommunications Union See ITU.

Comprising more than 185 member countries, the ITU sets standards for global telecom networks. ) plans to make DSL Forum's TR-048 part of the requirements in the updated ITU ADSL2 (G.992.3/4, also G.dmt.bis) recommendations.
