Aware, Inc. (NASDAQ:AWRE), a worldwide broadband technology leader and innovator, will showcase its DSL technology offerings next week at SUPERCOMM 2002 in Atlanta, June 3-6, 2002. Aware (Booth # 31348) will feature its new StratiPHY(TM) DSL intellectual property platform, designed for system-on-chip integration as well as fast time-to-market stand-alone solutions. Aware will also highlight several of the company's DSL extensions, including Dr. DSL(R) integrated diagnostics, XRDSL(TM) for extended reach, and solutions for delivering video and other advanced services.

StratiPHY Intellectual Property Platform

Aware's StratiPHY ADSL platform is the industry's only complete intellectual property offering. StratiPHY consists of complete RTL, firmware, and system reference design to enable fast time-to-market silicon solutions. StratiPHY delivers all required functionality, including support for all applicable ITU standards, ANSI standards, and the DSL Forum technical requirements document TR-048.

XRDSL for Extended Reach

XRDSL is a new intellectual property offering from Aware, developed to give DSL silicon and equipment vendors the opportunity to participate in the promising market for extended-reach DSL solutions. Extending the reach of DSL is important to telephone companies looking to offer high-speed Internet services to customers currently out of range of ADSL; customers with phone lines longer than 18 kilofeet have typically been considered out of reach of an ADSL connection. XRDSL allows carriers to offer high-speed connections to many of these customers who reside well beyond the traditional ADSL service area.

Dr. DSL Diagnostics

Aware's Dr. DSL diagnostics software provides ADSL chips with embedded loop diagnostics to reduce provisioning costs, improve troubleshooting, and expand monitoring necessary for service level agreements. Because Dr. DSL resides on the DSL chipset, it can be cost-effectively incorporated into any device with a DSL chip, including DSLAMs and test heads at the central office and a consumer's DSL modem at the home. Aware will be demonstrating Dr. DSL's single-ended DSL pre-qualification as well as advanced CPE (customer premise equipment) tests. The demonstration will illustrate how Aware's Dr. DSL integrated into test heads, DSLAM chipsets, and DSL modem chipsets can form a comprehensive testing architecture.

DSL Data Rate Enhancements for Video and Other Advanced Services

Telephony carriers are increasingly adding video to their portfolio of voice and data services. Aware offers several high data rate DSL solutions applicable to a variety of loop plants and architectures:

-- FastADSL software increases data rates of existing ADSL chipsets to over 11
Mbps in part by using an ADSL standard-compliant option.

-- BondedADSL(TM) bonds multiple phone lines together with multiple ADSL links,
achieving superior rate and reach.

-- ADSL2+ is an optional extension of the new ADSL2 standard, which doubles the
usable bandwidth on a phone line to increase data rates to over 20 Mbps on
shorter lines.

-- VDSL enables data rates up to 26 Mbps on phone lines shorter than 3000 feet.

Channelized Voice over DSL (CVoDSL)

CVoDSL enables a single phone line to carry derived lines of voice over DSL along with high-speed Internet access and traditional telephone service. CVoDSL enables next-generation DLCs (digital loop carriers) and DSLAMs (DSL access multiplexers) to incorporate derived voice functionality, and allows for cost-effective implementation into customer premise modems. Several silicon and equipment vendors are developing CVoDSL technology, and support for CVoDSL is included in the new ITU standard, ADSL2.

G.SHDSL (Symmetric High-bit-rate G.SHDSL)

G.shdsl delivers greater symmetric bandwidth at longer distances than current SDSL technology and traditional T1/HDSL systems, making it an attractive solution for carriers' business-class voice and data services. Aware's G.shdsl technology, which is compliant with the ITU G.shdsl standard, further enhances Aware's core DSL technology portfolio. Using Aware's technology, silicon providers can rapidly enter the emerging G.shdsl marketplace.

Presentations: Voice, Video & Enhanced Services over DSL

Aware representatives will be participating in two of SuperComm's conference sessions. Aware Technology Enables US DLC Equipment

Aware's technology will be featured in several Digital Loop Carrier (DLC) platforms next week at SuperComm 2002. Infineon Technologies, a leading provider of integrated circuits for advanced communications systems, announced its award-winning GEMINAX chipset has been selected by a leading North American digital loop carrier equipment supplier. Also, Occam Networks, a leading provider of advanced access network equipment, is using the GEMINAX chipset to provide integrated POTS voice/data capability in its recently announced BLC 1200 Remote Terminal.
