), a worldwide leader and innovator of broadband intellectual property, today commended the ITU (International Telecommunication Union, Geneva, Switzerland, www.itu.ch) A telecommunications standards body that is under the auspices of the United Nations. Comprising more than 185 member countries, the ITU sets standards for global telecom networks.  for its recent consent of G.992.5, the new ADSL See DSL.

2+ standard. ADSL2+ now joins the ADSL2 family of standards initially approved in July 2002. ADSL2+ doubles the maximum frequency used for downstream data transmission from 1.1 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  to 2.2 MHz. As a result, downstream data rates are increased to up to 24 Mbps on phone lines as long as 3,000 feet, and 20 Mbps on lines as long as 5,000 feet. ADSL2+ chipsets can support multimode functionality, enabling interoperability with existing ADSL equipment.

"ADSL2+ is poised to complement ADSL2 as the technology of choice to deliver video and other broadband entertainment services requiring extremely high downstream data rates," commented Peter LeBlanc Peter LeBlanc (born February 3, 1988 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian ice hockey centre drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 7th round 186th overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and is currently playing for University of New Hampshire in the NCAA. , vice president of marketing at Aware. "ADSL2+ will enable carriers with a comprehensive voice/video/data 'triple-play' service bundle, including traditional POTS voice, derived voice, high-speed Internet access, and video services. Because ADSL2+ gear can support interoperability with legacy ADSL and ADSL2 equipment, carriers will be able to use ADSL2+ to overlay advanced services without having to forklift upgrade their legacy equipment."

In addition to participating in the ITU's standards meetings, Aware's expertise extends to its technology and product offerings. In January 2003, Aware announced its latest technology based on ADSL2. Aware's StratiPHY(TM) is a complete physical instantiation (programming) instantiation - Producing a more defined version of some object by replacing variables with values (or other variables).
