Susan Taylor to ASME ASME - American Society of Mechanical Engineers  Hall of Fame

Congratulations to Susan L. Taylor, senior vice president and editorial director of Essence. Taylor has been named to the American Society of Magazine Editors' (ASME) Hall of Fame.

For the past 30 years, Taylor has been a guiding force at Essence and a symbol of achievement to black women around the world. In 1999, Taylor was the first African-American woman to receive The Henry Johnson Henry Johnson could refer to:
  • Henry Johnson (guitarist) - Chicago soul jazz musician
  • Henry Johnson (Actor)
  • Henry Johnson (American football) (born 1958)
  • Henry Johnson (American Civil War soldier) (born 1824), Medal of Honor recipient
 Fischer Award for lifetime achievement from the Magazine Publishers of America. She is the author of In the Spirit: The Inspirational Writings of Susan L. Taylor, Lessons in Living, and Confirmation: The Spiritual Wisdom That Has Shaped Our Lives (coauthored with her husband, Khephra Burs.) She will be honored during the 2002 National Magazine Awards Luncheon on May 2nd.
