The BH&HS presented the following awards on June 21, 2002: Distinguished Service Award fir Outstanding Contributions to Baptist History to Claude L. Howe Jr., Picayune, Mississippi; Davis C. Woolley Award for Outstanding Achievement in State Baptist History to the Virginia Baptist Historical Society/Center for Baptist Heritage and Studies, Richmond, Virginia; Norman W. Cox Award for Best Article Published by the BH&HS in 2001 to Alan Neely, Raleigh, North Carolina For other uses of this name, see Raleigh.

Hawkins Jr., Jefferson City, Tennessee Jefferson City is a city in Jefferson County, Tennessee, United States. It is part of the Morristown, Tennessee Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 7,760 at the 2000 census. The city was originally named Mossy Creek, but was changed in 1901 to honor Thomas Jefferson. ; and Baptist Heritage Preaching Contest Awards (in conjunction with the H. Franklin Paschall Chair of Biblical Studies and Preaching at Belmont University) to Steven R. Harmon, Campbell University Divinity School The Campbell University Divinity School, founded in 1995 and located in Buies Creek, North Carolina, is one of six schools that comprise Campbell University. The school is affiliated with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina as well as the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship  (first place), Marc Mullinax, Mars Hill College Mars Hill College is a private, coed, liberal-arts college affiliated with the North Carolina Baptist Convention. The college is located in the small town of Mars Hill, North Carolina, 15 miles due north of Asheville, western North Carolina's largest city.  (second place), and Bruce A. Lampert, Hendrick Medical Center, Abilene, Texas (third place).
