Award-winning Unisys X.500 directory services software now available for Internet and Intranet applications.


BLUE BELL, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 29, 1996--The Unisys Computer Systems Group (CSG CSG - constructive solid geometry ) Monday announced immediate availability of the TransIT 500 Internet Directory Server, a highly scaleable, high-performance directory server that includes full support for the popular Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (protocol) Lightweight Directory Access Protocol - (LDAP) A protocol for accessing on-line directory services.

LDAP was defined by the IETF in order to encourage adoption of X.500 directories.

Content in TransIT 500 directories is secured through strict Access Controls which the user can apply to any item, group or portion of the directory. TransIT 500 also supports the storage of X.509 public key certificates. In addition, TransIT 500 has incorporated the Defense Messaging System Software that provides an electronic mail delivery system. Powered by a TransIT 500 Internet Directory Server interfaced via LDAP to the World Wide Web, the EMA Global Guide to Messaging Products and Services offers a fully web-browsable and searchable catalog of messaging products.
