Award-winning Taking Montessori Home displays aesthetic and financial benefits of two-color printing. (Graphics).

Two-color printing continues to be a staple 1. (language) STAPLE - A programming language written at Manchester (University?) and used at ICL in the early 1970s for writing the test suites. STAPLE was based on Algol 68 and had a very advanced optimising compiler.

Two-color printing permits publishers to project a unique image at a cost-effective price. And using different shades of Noun 1. shades of - something that reminds you of someone or something; "aren't there shades of 1948 here?"

the second color gives the impression of more colors.

The six-page, gatefolded newsletter is printed light green and black on ivory stock.

As the inside spread shows, the second color is also used as a background, tying together articles on page 2 with the photographs placed against the same background on page 3. Notice how the colored background camouflages the fact that the photographs were resized and cropped to maintain consistent sizing for the faces in the photos. With the shaded background, it doesn't matter that one photo is larger than the others.

Flush-right headlines are used throughout the newsletter. On page 2, the headline treatment presents a highly organized set of three articles. The flush-right heads clearly separate the three articles. The heavier green rules and consistent amount of space between the headlines and the articles they introduce add further page discipline.

The pages hang together very well. When the last page of the gatefold gate·fold

Artistic effects are used with restraint. On pages 1 and 5, a single wrap text is used around the background visuals.

Taking Montessori Home is proof that two-color printing can be aesthetically pleasing, functional, and cost effective.
