OAKLAND, Calif. -- Zebra Enterprise Solutions, a division of Zebra Technologies Corporation (Nasdaq: ZBRA), announced today that it has signed a major deal with Gulf Stevedoring Contracting Company (GSCCO) in Saudi Arabia to implement Navis[TM] SPARCS SPARCS Statewide Planning and Research Cooperative System (New York state Department of Health)

GSCCO, which has a successful record for managing high volume terminal operations, was awarded the contract in January to develop and manage operations at Jubail Container Terminal. In 2008, GSCCO was recognized as the "Best Terminal Management in the Arab World" for its leadership in managing terminals with high volumes using SPARCS.

It is GSCCO's 10-year history of success with SPARCS at Jeddah Northern Container Terminal that played a major role in the contracting company's decision to implement SPARCS N4 at Jubail Container Terminal.

"A further crucial factor in the choice was the provision of a strong and responsive after sales and maintenance service an area that Zebra Enterprise Solutions recognizes as of paramount importance and where they have committed substantially increased resources to meet customer needs," said Dakheel Al Nagem, Managing Director at GSCCO. "At Jubail terminal throughput is expected to grow in leaps and bounds and it is essential that the terminal operating system used is able to accommodate this rapid expansion. The sophisticated SPARCS N4 system combines power, flexibility and ease-of-use offering a seamless intuitive interface that makes using it a pleasure for all concerned."

The Jubail terminal is currently being significantly redesigned to prepare for its high-percentage growth in three years, Al Nagem said. The terminal's yard, for example, will be redesigned and enhanced to support the larger vessels and handle overseas exports. Jubail currently manages about 120,120 TEU per year.

"We expect 2010 to grow to about 400,000 TEU; by 2011 we expect 800,000; and by 2012 we expect 1 million TEU," Al Nagem said. "At Jubail, we will have the best equipment and along with that we need a strong and reliable system to complement our infrastructure. We think SPARCS N4 represents a different era. It will allow us to develop a smart reporting system locally and elevate the operations to a different level."

Bill Walsh, General Manager at Zebra Enterprise Solutions, said SPARCS N4 will deliver for GSCCO and will demonstrate once again that the ZES ZES Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome

"Our successful solution is an integral part of the partnership between GSCCO and ZES. We will continue to work together to develop and expand SPARCS N4 at the Jubail Container Terminal as we have done with SPARCS and Express in the last 10 years at Jeddah,'' Walsh said. "We are confident that this continuing partnership will maintain SPARCS N4 as the world leader in TOS (1) (Terms Of Service) See acceptable use policy.
