BOOTLE scrap firm S Norton has picked up its second Queen's Award for Enterprise The Queen's Award for Enterprise is an award for British companies and other organizations who excel at international trade, innovation or sustainable development. The prestigious award is the greatest accolade a British company can receive. .

Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside The office of Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside was created on 1 April 1974, taking over some duties from the Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire and Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire.

, Dame Lorna Muirhead Dame Lorna Elizabeth Fox Muirhead, DBE, DL, SRN, SCM, MTD, CStJ, is a past President of the Royal College of Midwives.

In 1992 she became a member of the Council of the Royal College of Midwives and, in 1997, President of the Royal College of Midwives.
, and deputy Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Cllr Hazel Williams, attended the presentation at the firm's dockside headquarters, along with many of the firm's 120 staff.

The firm was recognised for its export growth of 30%, worth pounds 39m, between 2005 and 2007.

Accepting the latest accolade managing director John Norton thanked his workforce for their contribution in the company's success.

Norton is one of the leading metal recycles in the UK, processing and shipping more than one million tonnes of iron and steel scrap annually.
