Award for schoolgirl who overcame cancer.


A SCHOOLGIRL who lost her left eye to cancer as a tot has won an award for overcoming the effects of the disease.

To stop the disease spreading her eye was operated on and removed.

But Holly's mum Lesley says she has never let it stop her.

She was honoured at the Knowsley's Celebration of Achievement ceremony, which recognises the outstanding academic and personal achievements of pupils across the borough.

Mrs Barnabas, 43, said: "Holly just gets on with life.

"She did miss a lot of school because of hospital appointments but she has overcome this.

"She loves sport and plays rugby, football, goes horse riding and loves athletics athletics
 or track and field also track-and-field games
