A COMPANY bidding for the pounds 2.2 billion contract to repair Birmingham's potholed roads and flickering street lights has been awarded a major regeneration project in Kent.

John Laing plc is a British developer and operator of privately financed, public sector infrastructure projects such as roads, railways, hospitals and schools through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and
 plc, one of the partners in the Birmingham Street Services Consortium, is half of the team regenerating four towns for Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, delivering a range of civic, retail, commercial and homes developments over the next decade.

It is competing with rival consortium Amey to secure the 25-year Birmingham Highways maintenance private finance initiative contract.
