Avvio Networks' New A1010 Protocol Independent Multi-rate Optical Transponder Works With Any Optical Signal from 155Mhz to 2.7Ghz.

Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

BEDFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 7, 2003

Avvio Networks today introduced its A1010 transponder, a multi-rate optical transponder used to leverage 1310nm, 1550nm and 850nm equipment onto WDM wavelengths at a fraction of the cost of replacing the equipment. It is well suited for wavelength leasing and other applications requiring a cost-effective solution.

The A1010's protocol independent architecture enables service providers to natively support any protocol including SONET, SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) The European counterpart to SONET. See SONET.

It re-times, re-generates and re-shapes the optical signals for increased data reliability.

Ready-to-run right out of the box, the A1010 simplifies and speeds installation. A wavelength lessee can be brought on-line in minutes. The A1010 automatically detects the incoming signal's bit rate and locks onto it without operator intervention - making the A1010 ideal for fast installation.

Because the A1010 conforms to the ITU standards it can be used with equipment from Cisco (NASDAQ NASDAQ

Available options include replacing the 1310nm link with a 1550nm or 850nm multimode link, redundant DWDM uplinks, fixed 100Ghz DWDM and 20nm CWDM lasers, and tunable DWDM lasers. The tunable DWDM laser covers the entire C band with either 50Ghz or 100Ghz spacing. For long-haul applications, please contact Avvio Networks.
