Avtech Receives Contract for Airborne Warning and Control System -- AWACS -- Block 40-45 Flight Deck Communications System.


SEATTLE -- Avtech Corporation announced today that it has been selected by Boeing to provide a Flight Deck Communications System In telecommunication, a communications system is a collection of individual communications networks, transmission systems, relay stations, tributary stations, and data terminal equipment (DTE) usually capable of interconnection and interoperation to form an integrated whole.  (FDCS FDCS Flight Data Communications Specialist (FAA)

) for the E-3 AWACS AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System)

Mobile, long-range radar surveillance-and-control centre for air defense. Used by the U.S. Air Force since 1977, AWACS is mounted in a specially modified Boeing 707 aircraft, with its main radar antenna affixed to a rotating dome.

The new digital system replaces the legacy analog system and will use digital technology to process the audio signals. The system will provide superior signal-to-noise and crosstalk (1) Electromagnetic interference that comes from an adjacent wire. "Alien" crosstalk is interference that comes from a wire in an adjacent cable, for example, when two or more twisted wire pair cables are bundled together.  performance compared to its' analog predecessor and is based upon Avtech's Boeing 777 digital system, standard aboard all B777 aircraft.
