Avocent to Deliver Digital Video in Industry's Only NIAP* Common Criteria Approved Secure Switch; Allows Government Users to Switch between Computers without Compromising Security.

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Avocent Corporation (NASDAQ:AVCT) today announced the Avocent SwitchView(R) SC8 DVI KVM switch, the first secure switch to provide dual digital video connections in each of its eight ports. This new switch, along with Avocent's other SwitchView SC switch appliances, are the industry's only secure KVM switches approved by the National Information Alliance Partnership (NIAP) agency.

The SwitchView SC8 DVI KVM switch allows users to safely access data from as many as eight computers operating at various levels of classification while switching from just one keyboard, monitor and mouse. Security analysts can use dual monitor digital video (DVI) to better view maps, satellite images, detailed drawings, schematics and other sensitive data along with their normal text based applications stored on different computers.

Each fully secure channel, isolated to over 60db, supports dual DVI-I video connections that provide 2560 x 1600 video resolution - the highest available in a secure KVM switch. The switch features custom-designed encrypted internal firmware made in the U.S., automatically clears the keyboard buffer immediately after data is transmitted through the switch so no data is ever left in the switch, and uses standard PS/2 protocol to avoid detection by external devices.
