Avnet Partner Solutions Selects Dennis O'Connell to Lead IBM Business Unit.


TEMPE, Ariz. -- Avnet Partner Solutions, Americas, the leading value-added distributor of enterprise servers, storage, software and services, today announced that Dennis O'Connell has been selected vice president and general manager of Avnet Partner Solutions, IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  Business Unit. He brings a strong track record and deep industry experience and will be responsible for driving the continued growth and strategic direction of the business.

O'Connell has more than 29 years of experience with IBM, the last six years working directly with Avnet helping to build the company's IBM business into the largest distribution relationship with IBM globally. He held a variety of executive positions in sales, marketing and operations, including international management positions in Europe. He also served as general manager, General Business for IBM Australia.

O'Connell graduated from Indiana University Indiana University, main campus at Bloomington; state supported; coeducational; chartered 1820 as a seminary, opened 1824. It became a college in 1828 and a university in 1838. The medical center (run jointly with Purdue Univ. , where he received a bachelor's of science degree in marketing in 1976.
